29일 오후 7시 장학의 밤 행사 줌으로 개최… 밴쿠버한인장학재단
밴쿠버한인장학재단(VKCSF, 김지훈 이사장)은 2020학년도 장학생 25명에게 총 5만 4천달러를 지급한다고 밝혔다. 코로나 19 펜데믹으로 인해 8월 29일 열릴 장학의 밤 행사는 당일 오후 7시 Zoom을 활용한 Virtual Ceremony를 통해 개최된다.
김지훈 이사장은 “Covid-19 팬데믹을 지나는 어려운 상황 가운데에서도 여러 한인 기업, 단체, 개인들이 후원 덕에 장학금을 수여 할 수 있어 감사한 마음이다”라고 말했다.
이번 행사는 장학생들이 각자 촬영한 자기 소개와 장래에 대한 포부 및 감사 인사를 담은 동영상을 선보인다. 또한 참석자를 대상으로 실시간 투표를 통해 편집한 장학생 연설 영상 중 우수작을 선발한다.
한편 Virtual Ceremony에 참석자 모두에게 한아름 마트 상품권 Door Prize도 실시간으로 추첨이 진행된다.
정영환 이사는 “참석 희망자는 밴쿠버 한인 장학재단 홈페이지에 (http://www.vkcsf.org/) 개시된 링크를 통해 23일까지 등록을 하면 Zoom Meeting 안내를 이메일로 받으면 된다”고 한인사회의 관심을 당부했다.
밴쿠버 한인 장학재단이 설립된 1999년도부터 2020년도까지 822명의 학생들에게 총 $1,190,600의 장학금을 통해 미래에 투자하였다. 장학금을 받았던 장학생들은 사회의 곳곳에서 활약하며, 밴쿠버 장학재단 동문회로서 서로 간의 네트워크와 후배들을 돕는 활동을 통해 장학재단을 운영을 돕는 봉사자로, 그리고 장학재단의 이사진으로 활동 중이다.
