봄의 시작을 알리는 밴쿠버 벚꽃축제 개막

봄이 성큼성큼 오고 있다. 유독 길게만 느껴졌던 겨울이라 올 해의 봄은 기대감이 더 크다. 지난 30일, 밴쿠버 공원관리공단이 주최하는 밴쿠버 벚꽃 축제(Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival)이 개막했다. 현재 밴쿠버시는 약 4만 그루 이상의 벚꽃나무를 보유하고 있으며 매년 늘어가는 추세다. 밴쿠버의 대표적인 봄 행사로 자리 잡은 밴쿠버 벚꽃 축제는 한해를 거듭해 가면서 색다른 이벤트와 볼거리를 제공해 밴쿠버 주민들과 관광객들의 사랑을 받고 있다. 특히 아름다운 벚꽃 길을 자전거로 돌며 가벼운 운동도 즐길 수 있는 자전거 이벤트는 자전거 타는 매니아층의 지지를 받고 있다. 주최측은 캐나다 150주년 맞아 더욱 다양한 이벤트를 준비했다고 밝혔다.
